Miles' Birthday Week

I had to show a photo of Miles' birthday cake. It was dirt cake... actually more of a pudding consistency, but yummy none the less!!The next day Miles and I took off to Sioux Falls. We stayed at the Ramada, which has a great pool with a pirate ship!
The next morning we were up early for Miles' upper endoscopy.
Waiting in downstairs with Alex the Cat.He had his own room up on peds, a fishy gown (wasn't too fond of that), and watched Disney until they came to get him.
Everything went really well. I was able to go down to the OR with him until he went to sleep with gas, then they started his IV, did the scope and took a couple biopsies. I meet him on his way back up to his room. The photo below is after.

No tears... until we were leaving and I had to take off the 3 stickers on his chest. As we were walking out of the room he asked, "aren't they going to put the camera down my throat?"

Miles is still on reflux medication and has started another medicine for gastritis. This will hopefully resolved the reflux and get him off medicine soon!

Four years ago today I was on my 3rd induction attempt. The doctor made a comment about believing this guy was going to be 10 lbs!

After ANOTHER long day, and only 3cm for all that work, it was decided a c-section was the way to go. My sweet Miles was 9lbs. 6oz. and AMAZING!

This guy made us work for it... every evening (about when Ben came home from work) he'd start a good 1-3 hours of crying, fussing joy. I found myself going on a lot of walks to get him to nap, but this one didn't want to miss a thing!

When James was born he was NOT interested. Until the noisy little thing started standing and walking, then Miles noticed, and wasn't too happy.

But now this big guy has a best friend.

He loves to kiss him mommy and read with his daddy.

He likes to snuggle with his Grandmas and work with his Grandpas.

He's always checking out how things work.

He loves being outside (even in the winter).

And is turning into a very generous little boy.

I was snuggling with Miles last week and said, "Miles, I can't believe you're going to be 4 years old already!! I think you should stay little!" Miles quickly said, "well, I eat a lot of food, so I'm getting pretty big!" And I suggested, "maybe we shouldn't feed you so much anymore." VERY concerned he replied, "Mommy, I would get hungry... but James is little so you can snuggle him when I get too big."

"Oh Miles, you'll never get to big to snuggle with your Mommy!"

This birthday thing is already getting hard! I have no idea what I'll do at 16 and 18!!!

Happy Birthday Miles!

Swing Batter Batter!

Miles has been asking for Better Batter Baseball for his birthday, or "batter batter baseball" as he calls it.On Sunday he got it from my parents.

Here he's a righty...

...and here a lefty.

Another of Miles' gifts that James liked!
Seriously, this picture is just a bit creepy!

Not sure if I've mentioned how much James likes to talk on the phone. He talks and talks, and paces while doing it. I believe that is learned from watching me.

Unfortunately, when the little guy gets talking, he's not so easy to understand, eventually starts pointing and naming everything around him, and ends with button pushing. But he likes it, and if he believes it's his turn to talk, he will scream until he gets the phone, or carried off to his room.

Weekend

We headed to my parents' house this weekend. The boys spent the whole weekend outside, enjoying the beautiful weather. Miles' birthday is Wednesday so there were presents and a VERY happy birthday boy!
James made out quite well too! One of things Miles wanted for his birthday was a present for James, that way he wouldn't have to share his.

The boys follow Grandpa Paul all over! This time out to the island for some cattails...

...but of course being boys they became weapons and were either broken or confiscated.
A little story (unrelated to the weekend)
- Miles had an appointment in Sioux Falls about 1 1/2 weeks ago. Of course I needed to take advantage of the shopping available, so we headed out early. We ended up stopping in Victoria's Secret and Miles exclaimed loudly, "It's beautiful in here!!" Much better than the kid that was pulling a bra on over his head!
