Roadtrip Photos (day 2)

Day 2!! And Pinky... he looks over the Mississippi and the Isle of Capri Casino boat.

McGregor, Iowa was a cute vintage town. We LOVED this store!! The lady that was working was dressed up right out of the 50's! So cute!

More of McGregor!

We crossed over into Illinois on day 2 and stayed at the Pine Motel in Fulton. Our smallest place, but clean!

Picnic lunch day 2 at a lock and dam.

Roadtrip Photos (day 1)

On our way down we stopped in Minnesota City. We couldn't drive through due to the bridge being washed out from the flooding. It looked like someone took a huge bite out of the Earth from under some of the homes. There were also a lot of mudslides olong the way.

Just a sign... sugar loaf... in Winona.

Our first food stop in Brownsville, MN. We agreed we would not have any fast food on our trip. I had some really good homemade vegetable beef soup!!

It was a little dark when we made it into Iowa. It took a LONG time to get pictures at this sign. Since it's reflective and we're not, most of the shots blacked us out.

Our first night in Marquette, IA at the Frontier Motel. We were right next to the Isle of a Capri (a casino boat). There were tons of riverboat casinos in Iowa and Illinois.

Road Trip Pictures (part 1)

And we're off!! Erin and I headed out Friday afternoon, down the Great River Road. We took her jeep, so the top was off and it didn't feel like we were cooped up in a car.
Erin driving.

We ended up with some pretty wild hair, not just when moving, it was crazy when we got out!

This little town in Iowa had this old historic looking downtown, it was fake, it's really a big banquet hall.

Here we are back in Maple Grove. We came back on Monday afternoon. Was a bit cold, so we had the top up for our last day.

Total miles traveled!! 892.4!

More pictures to come! I have tons!!!

They're HEEERRRREEEE!

The mosquitoes have arrived in full force, and Miles took a beating! Literally!! He woke up with a swollen eye. The poor guy, when he gets bit, they turn into welts, hence his eye. There are a few on the back of his neck, hand, wrist, arms... Unfortunately he starting itching them, so some are looking even worse! Time to stay inside for a while!!

And here's a picture I took last week when he was off to ride his horse. In full gear! He later wore that hat on his trike ride up to the coffee shop.

And my little James!

I'm already having anxiety about leaving him this weekend. Erin and I are off on our road trip, which I'm very excited about, but also sad to leave my little guy. Miles is going to stay at my parents and James will stay home with Ben. I'm sure there will be frequent phone calls to both my parents house and home!!

He's still working hard on mobility, VERY close! And has no patience while eating. I can't shovel the cereal in fast enough. Just like Miles!

New posts of my trip next week!!
