Busy Weekend

We had a very busy weekend of FUN, FUN, FUN! We spent a lot of time at the Faribault County Fair. True to Miles' personality, he was pretty sober on the rides...
...once again, hard to tell if he was enjoying himself. But when he got off one horse and wanted to get on the next one, that clued us in. He spent a good portion of his time on the rides checking out how the ride worked. Future engineer??

We also went to the pool! James just sat back in his floaty and watched Miles run all over.

And our big helper ended the weekend watering Mom's flowers! Anything to do with water and he's there!!

And for our really big news...

...Miles has been going pee-pee in the potty here and there so I decided we'd try some underwear under his diaper (so he can feel the wetness). I ran out to Walmart and bought some fun underwear. When I got home I tried to get Miles excited about wearing big-boy underwear!! HA! I sat down on the floor with my Walmart bag and said, "Miles!! Come see what Mommy got you!!" He ran over, sat down, and then I pulled them out. "Look! Mommy got you big-boy underwear!! Diego's on them!!" He looked at the underwear, looked at me, picked up the Walmart bag, looked inside, looked back at the underwear, looked under the underwear, then got up and walked away. Not too impressed! But he went in the potty tons on Sunday! Only had wet undies/diaper 3 times (once was after nap time, so that doesn't count).

Mobility... AHHHH!!

James has been working very hard to get mobile. He's now flips over almost immediately when we lay him on his back.

And there he goes... on his way over! Kind of neat to be able to get it on camera!!

And success!!

But, he's not happy with just rolling over anymore! He wants to go places! Here he's trying to get his legs under himself and scoot forward on his face!

Big brother Miles better hide his toys... James will be getting his hands on them soon!!

Neat Freak!

The last few times Ben has tried to clean windows, or use Windex for anything, Miles just about throws a tantrum, wanting to help clean. So on Monday I went to Walmart and spent $1.50 on a empty squirt bottle...
...that squirt bottle and a kleenex have turned out to be quite a hit!! Once again, he LOVES to clean!! I can't wait until I can give him the real stuff and things are actually getting clean! Definitely have to nurture this!!

Swinging at the Park

While I was at work this weekend, Ben took the boys to the park. Ben shot these pictures, I LOVE them!! Miles can be a VERY serious little man when it comes to play time. And just when you're questioning whether or not he's having fun...

...he shrieks or yells...

...and then flashes that gorgeous smile.

It Finally Rained!

We finally got some rain on Wednesday! So Miles put on his galoshes and splashed around a little. He was too hungry to stay outside for long, but Thursday morning when we went to the park there were still plenty of puddles. He was so very thoughtful of the other kids and dried off most of the slides with his shorts!

Oh! Another nice little bit of thoughtfulness to share...

Miles, like me, is not a big morning person. His diaper can be filled to the max and his pajammas soaked but he will get very crabby if we try to change him right away. So we usually have to let him play in his room a bit and wake up more. Well, this morning was different! When I went in to get him he had already taken care of the pajammas and diaper! My naked little guy was standing in his crib looking so proud, jammies and diaper on the floor! Made the morning that much easier!!

Uptown

On Tuesday I picked up Ana and we drove up to the cities. We spent the day in Uptown with Erin. We had fun trying on crazy sunglasses and hats. There were tons of cool old bikes parked around town. This pink beauty was especially unique with the collection of barbies in the basket!

While we were walking around checking out the shops I saw this little coffee shop...

...all the around the building were these big paintings. Either on doors or where there used to be a window. Didn't actually go in though.

Just another cute outdoor patio area.

On the way home we stopped at the Medford Outlets...

it was fun getting out of Blue Earth, it's been a while since I'd been to uptown.

Street Dance

Saturday night was the annual Giant Days street dance in Blue Earth. The Murphy Brothers were playing and I was long overdue for a night out with Ben. Since the dance was 1 1/2 blocks away we walked up. Here were are on our way!! Yippee!!

Oooo, one of my favorite Blue Earth couples, Ana and Brandon! They're to be married in September. So cute!

Did I say I was overdue for a night out with Ben?? Ha! Didn't see too much of him. For whatever reason I decided I needed to introduce Ana to half of Blue Earth that night. Hmm, if she has a memory like me then names went in one ear and out the other...

...and I'm sure the beers didn't help with the whole memory thing either. Oh well, it was fun!

Weekend with the Cousins

The cousins were in town this weekend for Giant Days! Miles had a great time playing with them! Miles tried riding a bike, but decided it would be more fun the "fix" it!
Cousin Jake watching Max and Gregg play catch.

Cousin Max...

...Miles had a great time playing legos and army guys with Max!

Cousin Kate pulling Lucky in the wagon.
She was also busy pulling Miles around the block and teaching him how to play hide-and-seek.

4 months...

James is 4 months!! He had his check-up on Friday, he weighs 16 lbs. and is 25" long. 50-75% for weight, and 25-50% for height. Smaller than big brother was, but Miles was eating a ton more at 4 months than James is. James was a big flirt at his appointment, he had tons of smiles for the nurses...
...at least until the shots came. I have NEVER heard him scream so loud. I'm sure he scared the other kids in the office! He got over it quickly though.

We've also started James on rice cereal. He's been having it every evening for the past week. He loves it! Works well as a mud mask also!!

Becoming a BIG BOY!

This a picture of Miles when he was James' age!! Yea, I think we clonned them!
Anyhow, Miles is becoming a big boy! Last night while getting ready for his bath, he sat on his little potty (usually nothing happens) but finally something did! Miles went pee in the potty. Well, some of the pee went in the potty, most went on the floor, but we were all very excited! While Ben and I clapped, Miles went for a victory lap to his room and back. Then he stood by the tub, looked down and peed some more. He realized he has control. So, of course he tested it out again on another spot on the floor! Yes, I got a little teary eyed... he's getting so big!!

Oh Boys!

Last night Ben and I took Miles to the Blue Earth Kiwanis sponsored circus. After the circus we picked up James from Ben's parents house and went home to get the boys ready for bed. Ben had to quick run back out to the circus to take care of some last minute business, so the boys and I were playing in Miles' room...

...Miles looked like he was trying to poop and since we were so close to the bathroom I thought we'd attempt to get it in the potty. We left James laying on a blanket in Miles room, and quickly ran to the potty. Too late! Miles had already finished pooping. But he wanted to sit on the potty anyhow. While he sat I peaked around to corner at James, still where I left him...

...Miles decided he was done on the potty, didn't do anything on there, and since he was 1/2 undressed I figured I'd just get him in the tub myself. I started the bathwater, turned around, and he was gone. I got to his room just in time to see him finish peeing on the blanket James was laying on (not the best aim so James stayed dry)!

It was at this time that both boys decided they were unhappy and thankfully Grandma Louise stopped by after work or I'd have completely lost my mind! So I got the pee cleaned, the big guy in the tub, Grandma Louise had James, and then Ben made it back home. How does he miss all the fun!!

Linus

My little "Linus" napping.
James loves his blankets. He plays with them, sucks on them, but especially loves to cover his face and nap with them. He's not at all choosy which blanket he has, just that he has one.
~I used a few layers to get this photo effect. Sepia on one layer, and newspaper on another. Then I just adjusted the opacity, til I got what I wanted.

Milesbath

No Rules at Grandma and Grandpa's house!!
Miles spent 3 nights up at my parents house and had a GREAT time.
He went to the Como Zoo. Saw monkeys, giraffes, lions...
and got to go on rides!
They also went to Weaver Lake
and checked out the Maple Grove Community Center.
But I think he had the most fun playing in Grandma's birdbath!!

A Fish Called Miles...

We are LOVING the new community pool! Miles has been at least 8 times since it open a couple weeks ago.

He has no fear of water. He runs right in.

There's tons of water spraying out of the equipment, and he stands under or over... whatever he needs to do to get as wet as possible.

He even lays in the water and dunks his head under, then blows bubbles!

He had to have been a fish in a previous life!
